I live in Louisville Kentucky and have just finished my first ever really intense March Madness with UoL making it to the Final 4 (Yay Cardinals); only to lose to Kentucky. My husband and his brother were on opposing sides. Neighbors against neighor; two dialysis patients came to blows. In my house texts flew back and forth, bets were placed, jerseys donned. I have never seen anything like it. Needless to say there is no joy here in Mudville, the mighty Cardinals did not win. And so my husband must pay up and this is the card I made to go with his wager.

There was not a Copic used to color this…really you say…really. I colored this digital image entirely with distress ink. I started by printing the image on watercolor paper. I had previously created a custom distress ink palette with the reinkers. Then using normal water coloring process I painstakingly painted each area with distress reinkers and water. I found to minimize bleeding you need to dry each area with your heat gun before moving on to the next area.
oh my goodness close-up
I used Tea Dye for her skin,  Barn door for her bow, dress and shoes. I used Tatter Rose for her cheeks and mouth. Her hair is Walnut Stain. The background is a digital image. After I finished coloring my image on the watercolor paper I scanned it into my computer to create the background, and used Distress Ink to distress the edges. And there she is in all her cardinal red glory…Oh My Goodness isn’t she a riot.

I am giving away the digital image shown above. In order to win this image you simply have to leave a comment. Easy Peasy right! Leave a comment here by Sunday, April 15th at 11:59pm (Louisville, KY time).

Please take the opportunity to visit all the designers and see what they have come up with and maybe win some other prizes!
Grand Prize - Our grand prize winner will receive 5 digital Images from Robert Jackson and a $15.00  Oozak Gift Certificate.

Stop Now

I got the following email:
"LEAVE WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND LET US PRAY!!!

> Almighty Father creator of Heaven and earth and everything in between,
> We humbly come before you with thanks giving in our hearts, asking for
> your never ending mercy. We lift your name on high, above any name
> that has ever existed, our father and creator, we ask you to bless,
> protect and to pour your supernatural favor upon us, our children,
> spouses and friends. God Jehovah we ask you today for divine
> intervention in our lives, we ask for your touch in all areas of our
> lives. Be it a new job, promotion, freedom from debt, rebuilding of
our relationships with our spouses and friends.

> Father any situation you touch, we believe it can never remain the
same. Father in heaven, let your will be done in our lives as your decision
> in our lives is the best and will always be the best, please send
> double portion anointing and blessings in the quickest time to the
> person who will forward this.. As your name is being worshiped and
glorified by multitudes.
> In the name of your only son, our personal Savior, Jesus
> Christ.   AMEN!!!
>
> God is going to shift things around for you today and let things work
> in your favor. If you believe, send it. If you don't believe, delete
it.
>
> God closes doors no man can open & God opens doors no man can close."

Ok I did stop and pray; and something I secretly wanted came to past and I know it was the Lord.

I have wanted to be on a design team in the craft world and saw a call for new members but I had missed the deadline by 2 days. 2DAYS. I sent in a sample of my work anyway. The owner responded and asked me to apply anyway and I made it. God is Good! I thought as I was praying, I don't need anything; my son and daughter are employed, housed and not hungry. My Husband is good. Really IT’S ALL GOOD. So God decided to give me a want, Glory to God. I saw the design Team call after I prayed, ok happy dance happy dance.

Birthday Cards X 3

Update: My dad died 4/15/2012; I'm so glad I went home for his last birthday. I thank God for 95 years and a peaceful transition.

The March Madness for me is all about Birthdays. I have 6 during the month and me that’s a full month. 2 family members and 4 friends. I made these cards for 2 of my friends and for my dad, who turned 95 this year.

We celebrated the day by going to church and then gathering at his house for dinner.
Masculine cards are not my forte so since my dad is an aviate gardener I did a floral card.
IMG_2072
I came up with this idea while attending my first ever crop and had to use what I had on hand.
I chose a couple of Memory Box dies Primula Blooms and Estate Fence. The sun is just a circle punch and the stamp is my Paper Trey Ink.

for my girls I used to images from an artist named Robert Jackson.
You can see his work here.

The paper is die cut with an Edger die from Paper Trey Ink.
I colored this Lady from Robert Jackson’s  Sunday Hat series with my copics.
Her skin is done with E00, E02 and E04.
For the hat and dress I used YR20, YR21, YR23 and YR0000.
Her hair has W5, W7, W9 and YR20.
To add some depth to the shadows I added BV00 here and there.
For the dotted halo I used G12 and BG13. I started with DCWV Designer Paper in mind.
Here’s  close up. I added Viva Décor Glitter Liner in Gold (included on the flowers) and some IAMROSES flowers to finish her off.

Here is the other card also using an image from the Hat series.
Her skin is colored with the same Copic combination E00, E02 and E04.
Hat and Blazer are BG10, BG11, BG13 and BG15.
Hair: C2, C3, C5, C7 and C9.
Halo: YR21, YR23 and YR4
Shadow: BV00
Glitter Liner in Gold

I’m on a Diet

I am participating in Sparkletart’s 30 Day Challenge

http://www.sparkletart.com/rsr/2012/03/30-day-craft-cleanse.html

on a modified basis. I have a stamp convention at the end of April and my plan is to buy nothing  crafty for the month of April until the convention. Friends keep me honest, I know my husband will. I also plan to keep my desk top clean each night, I must put everything away.   I hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew.

Right now there is no space on my desk. So this has got to help. It is said that you can change any habit in 21 days.  Here’s hoping I get a new habit of clearing away my space!

If I manage the buying freeze it will make the convention at the end even sweeter and better funded (all cash).

I have already started the purge. I’m giving away to a new stamper friend (hey Thelma) my full set of Adirondack ink. I have not touched them in years, since I drank the Stamping Up kool-aide.

Sweating here as it is so hard for me to part with anything. But hey it felt good. I bet there are more things I can give away!

Here is my first one. I'm sure there will be more.

The paper I used was by Tim Holtz.
The dies and ink  are by Stamping up.
The Stamp by Paper Trey Ink.
Ribbon from my stash.

March Madnesss

Birthday madness that is. I have 4 friends whose birthday are the first week of March. Then my dad's 95th was Sunday. I close out this week with my dear daughter.

I made this card for my daughter's birthday.

It's all good,

Pam
