WINNING

The most wonderful thing happened.  But before I tell you remember in a blog post sometime prior to this I was wining about my name. It has been an issue for some time.

I was born a Brown. And Pam is very common.  The Brown problem was my mother thought it was cute to dress me in brown while I love loud vivid colors. My ENT doctor was examining my nose when I was there for post-op vocal chord surgery. The dentist almost pulled a tooth! Yikes. And that is just the problem with being Pam and Brown.

The problem with being Pam is that in my company I have been in a department where there were 4 Pams. The same company had 3 Pam Browns nationwide and 2 in my office (the other was not in my department). I got her check once….I knew immediately it wasn’t mine; she was a boss and I was so not. And just last week while waiting for my mammogram, first they called Donna and 2 women stood up and yes you guessed it they called Pam and 2 of us stood up.

So that brings me to my current last name LEvingston. Why did I bold, underline and Italicize the E…because no one hears it; no one sees it. No matter whether I write it or enunciate it as Lev- (think tax levy)-ing-ston, people hear or see Livingston. Such was the case when I won PaperTreyInk’s Year of Stamps prize for their 10th anniversary.

When they announced the contest I forwarded the email to a group of friends called the Late Night Stampers. My email said enter someone has to win and it might as well be one of us…hahaha. When I was completed the entry form I said to God Let me win and even before the n on win was out of my thoughts I added am I being greedy, I have so much. God is so Good!

I know that I did not misspell my own name because Google auto-input my name and address for me.

So imagine seeing this on PaperTrey’s website when I went to place my order.

year of stamps

I knew that it was me even with an “I”.

I almost fell out of my chair.

I know my friend on the phone got an earful and so did my husband.

I posted to Facebook.

I thanked PaperTrey in their Forum.

But then I worried because no one from PaperTrey acknowledged the typo or that I had indeed won. It bothered me so much I tracked down a former winner to see what to expect, she graciously told me what I would receive. ALL THE STAMPS, THE MINI MAKE IT MARKET KITS. She let me know that it would arrive well after the release and that I would get all the releases for this year and January of 2018. I would not get the Stamp Affair kit….I think I can afford to buy that. No dies I think I can afford to buy those.

So Thanks PaperTrey!

And oh by the way there is a Pam Livingston who works for my company now…but not in Louisville, Kentucky!

You can see what they sent in the first box here:

Palenttini Collection

From my Stampaway haul I have colored up a Palenttini Face It Stamp two ways. A lighter Skinned version and a Dark and Lovely version! The stamp is sold by Technique Junkies.

20150812_202931

I used Primacolor and the Lyra Skin Tone set of colored pencils and some Gamsol.

for the whites of their eyes I used  a mix of colored pencil and Signo Uniball gel pen. Tip: put the gel pen down first. To add some more strands of hair I used Faber Castel Pitt pens.

to make the eyes pop I went over the stamping with .03 Acurit Professional Technical Pen.

And then following a Splitcoaststampers Tutorial for double matting layers I created two cards. I used my Misti and some Tim Holtz Runway stamps to decorated one of the layers.

20150813_10185420150813_102051

The paper is from PaperTreyInk. The ink MFT Hybrid. Here is a peek at the inside just waiting for my sentiments.

I had to jump right in and make some things before I put these stamps away!

Christmas Card done!

My Christmas Cards are all made! Yay, Yippy, Yahoo. I like to send them out the day after Thanksgiving. All I need to do now is address them…but that is for another day. I needed to rest my hands.

20141102_203520

I made over 30. Those  MemoryBox Bianca Snowflakes could have been tedious but they weren’t thanks to the Spellbinder’s ToolNOne! I paired it with my old Coluzzle mat…remember those. Sadly they are no longer made. When I saw the mat that Spellbinders’ sells online, I thought that looks like my Coluzzle mat. I don’t know for certain that they are the same material but the Coluzzle mat did the trick see here:

This spared my hands for sure! Now that this task is complete I am free to pursue other crafty adventures.

Other supplies:

Paper Trey Ink – One Liners Die (peace)

Star Dream Paper from Macro’s Paper

Sequins from Simon Says Stamps

Stencils from MemoryBox

Small Snowflake Stamp: Rubber Stamp Tapestry

Delicata Ink in Shimmering Silver

Mat Silver Foil paper from Hollos

Inlaid Butterfly

20141016_093749
Super easy card made following a Splitcoast Stampers tutorial.

I had the pleasure of meeting, in person, Sandy Mayfield while visiting my daughter in Chicago this past weekend. I have virtually know Sandy from Images of Color Stamp Art yahoo group and her blog (http://www.auntiesandy.blogspot.com/). Such a great artist and gracious host! I made this card to thank her.
Details:
The Butterfly is from Spellbinders and the Thank You die is from PaperTreyInk.
I used Prima Bloom Spray Summer Sky on the PTI cardstock.

New Stuff!

Do you keep new stuff or do you dive right in! I’m a diver…there will probably be no new clothes in my closet when I die (ah unless I go tonight). check back in a week and there won’t be any.  I’m not that way with craft supplies…I hoard them. why WHY…I don’t know. I find things I have bought months before and I can not remember why  (WHY) I had to have them.

This year’s word is DO. So in keeping with that mantra I am trying to use the things I buy.

The Tim Holtz layered dies arrived in the mail this week. I was able to sneak the box by my husband and into the hoard room aka my studio. What is so special about these dies is that they are steel rule and therefore will cut thick materials with ease  (Mostly). AND they come with embossing folders that match!

SO as I needed several cards and I got them out to play. The first one I used to make a shaped card and it was so fun I made 2.
One white on white:
20140710_18065520140710_180603
I layered vellum on top of white cardstock and topped it with pearls. I tucked some pearls behind the vellum layer so it will stay popped up.

And one in color:

I inked the card with pinks and oranges from Paper Trey Ink and for the darks I used
Vintage Photo.

Tomorrow I’ll show you what I did with the dragonfly!

It Beginning To Look

No matter when I start on my Christmas projects I seem never to get them all done. I’m starting now and hoping for a different outcome this year. Christmas time is stressful at work with end of the year projects, less time due to holidays and overdoing it in my personal life.

Paper Trey Ink is having a blog hop and the theme is tags. So I made these to top some packages. I’m ahead of the game by 2 Yay!

The Snowflake is Paper Trey Ink’s Stitched Snowflake as well as there

Tag Sale #8 die for the tag. The paper is from MemoryBox and the pearl was in my stash.

SAF Breakfast Bake and Take

There is a stamping party going on over at Nicole Heady's blog today because it is the 2013 Stamp-A-faire put on by Paper Trey Ink and I am playing along.

The first challenge is to use a supplied sketch and color recipe. I choose these:

And here is the card I came up with.Picture 119

I hope you can go over ad play some too.

Poinsettia Christmas Cards

I had a play night Saturday and I got stuck on one die  and made 3 different cards using it.IMG_2297

The die is Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia and what is so cool is that there is a matching embossing folder for it. I actually have another poinsettia die that embosses when it cuts but not with this much detail.

IMG_2292

There are 3 sizes of flowers on the die and I joined them with a tree brad I had. I topped the brad with glitter as there had to be bling right!

IMG_2293

I colored the die cuts with Stampin Up’s Cherry Cobbler and  Mellow Moss Inks.

IMG_2290

The other embossing folder that came in the set was used to emboss the background and a Hero Arts stamp completes the outside of the card.

IMG_2294

I used the same inks on this card but with a lighter hand.

And one with no color at all! The embossed border comes from a Spellbinders Card Creator die.

It was a fun night!

Losses

A couple of Friends suffered the loss of a parent. Another friend has decided not to attend our crafting nights anymore. It just seems to be a season of loss. So I made some cards for my friends.

First up the sympathy cards. I was playing with a technique I learned while visiting home from Rena (Hi Rena)! The stamps, ink and paper are all from Paper Trey Ink.
IMAG0239

The paper on this one is kraft from Paper Trey Ink and colored with Prismacolors.
The ink was Archival. Stamps by Hero Arts except for the sentiment it is from
Cornish Heritage Farms. Someone so wonderful… can never be forgotten is what the full stamp says. I stamped a portion on the front and the rest inside. Added a few pearls to finish it off.
IMG_2225

These three cards were inspired by a die set I bought from Paper Trey Ink.
there are 3 dies in the set as seen below. The stamps are from their Counting Your Blessings stamp set. I had this floral ribbon that covers the seam between where the embossing folder ends. I think it is a hello kitty set from Sizzix.

Even though this seems to be a season of loss; I am blessed and grateful, thankful for what I have.

Birthday Cards X 3

Update: My dad died 4/15/2012; I'm so glad I went home for his last birthday. I thank God for 95 years and a peaceful transition.

The March Madness for me is all about Birthdays. I have 6 during the month and me that’s a full month. 2 family members and 4 friends. I made these cards for 2 of my friends and for my dad, who turned 95 this year.
IMG_2080
We celebrated the day by going to church and then gathering at his house for dinner.
Masculine cards are not my forte so since my dad is an aviate gardener I did a floral card.
IMG_2072
I came up with this idea while attending my first ever crop and had to use what I had on hand.
I chose a couple of Memory Box dies Primula Blooms and Estate Fence. The sun is just a circle punch and the stamp is my Paper Trey Ink.
IMG_2073

for my girls I used to images from an artist named Robert Jackson.
You can see his work here.
IMG_2066
The paper is die cut with an Edger die from Paper Trey Ink.
I colored this Lady from Robert Jackson’s  Sunday Hat series with my copics.
Her skin is done with E00, E02 and E04.
For the hat and dress I used YR20, YR21, YR23 and YR0000.
Her hair has W5, W7, W9 and YR20.
To add some depth to the shadows I added BV00 here and there.
For the dotted halo I used G12 and BG13. I started with DCWV Designer Paper in mind.
Here’s  close up. I added Viva Décor Glitter Liner in Gold (included on the flowers) and some IAMROSES flowers to finish her off.

IMG_2068

Here is the other card also using an image from the Hat series.
Her skin is colored with the same Copic combination E00, E02 and E04.
Hat and Blazer are BG10, BG11, BG13 and BG15.
Hair: C2, C3, C5, C7 and C9.
Halo: YR21, YR23 and YR4
Shadow: BV00
Glitter Liner in Gold

I used the same stamps on both from Paper Trey Ink!
