Thanksgiving Traditions

Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving Tradition? In my family we all hold hands and pray before the meal.  And love that there is always Turkey and Dressing and family from far and near. It would not be thanksgiving without my sister JoAnn’s Secret-To-A-Happy-Marriage yeast Rolls. We pour over the sale ads and plot our attack. We watch football, talk baseball and track (players in the family). We remember those we love who are no longer with us and give thanks for those who are.

But my favorite tradition is a crafty one. I try to mail out my Christmas cards on Black Friday. My friends tell me that my card is the first card they receive. Most years I make it. This year I have been working hard to meet my deadline. Here is what I have come up with so far.

I generally made multiples of each design but I won’t bore you with that.

What crafty traditions do you have?

Wishing you a happy and safe Thanksgiving. I am thankful for you all!

Grungy Christmas ATC Submission

I am playing in a Swap on YouTube at Queenbeescreations’ channel. That was a mouth full.

I had to make 4 ATC with a Christmas theme and grungy in nature. Here is what I came up with.

I used paper from My Mind’s Eye and I cut a focal image into a banner shape. I distressed the edges with my distrez-it-all from Zutter on both the banner and the ATC. My base is chipboard covered with more of the paper from MME and I stamped an snowflake from Tim Holtz and gold heat embossed it. I tucked an ornament (Stampin Up) punch out underneath the banner. This is copper colored mirror paper and I stamped Joy (Paper Trey Ink) and heat embossed with detail white embossing powder. I added some Stampendous tea stain fragments to the banner cut with glossy accents. The tiny snowflake die cut at the bottom is from a Memory Box border die. I added color to the border with some distress ink and every so often around the border I touched a Krylon gold pen to accent it.

I hope the swappers who get my ATCs are happy with it. I had fun making them.

After The Christmas Rush

Christmas time is over now and I am sad to see it go. But is some ways I am glad to see it go too so that I can have more time to create without deadline.

I actually received a call from my Aunt asking where my Christmas card was, since she had not received it the day after Thanksgiving. In past years I sent my cards out the day before Thanksgiving so that they would arrive the day after the holiday. This year I was not as organized and I wasn't even sure I would get to send any out. Have you ever felt rushed during the holidays, I sure have. This is the card Aunt Mattie quilted me into making.

Well today I'm taking a "me" day and only doing the things I want to do! And so I learned to blog. Happy New Year from the Queen.
