Something I did

IMG_0596

I got one of the dies from the new Sizzix Movers and Shapers set. I did not spend the $30plus on the whole system but just bought one of the interchangeable dies. I made it work in my Cuttlebug and have ordered some more. The big background stamp is by Hero Arts. Below I turned the die cut into a frame. I cut the card into the shape of a house and sent it to a friend who just moved.

ART!

I made this to trade at stamp club. Our theme was to use a Northwoods Stamp and I had this gazebo image forever and it had never seen ink!

Copic markers...I just love them.

Just Because

IMG_0603

Inside this card it says:

Its not mother's day nor your birthday nor any other day of celebration.

It just a beautiful day and I was thinking of you. I am sending it to my mom's best friend. She loves to get my cards but I usually only send them on special occasions. This will be a surprise.

I spent Saturday shopping with a friend who bought me lunch and a pair of shoes so I made this card for her.

Father's Day

IMG_0569 Happy Father's Day to all the dad's and mom's who had to be dad.

I created this card with my dad in mind. Robert Herbert Brown, Junior was born in Moultrie Georgia sometime in the teens of the 1900s. No one knows for sure exactly when as the census has something different than the baptismal record.  And the court house burned down before he had a copy of his birth certificate...if in deed one even existed, such was the times in the south, we go by the one he celebrated the most.

Any way he worked for the B&O Railroad as a steward for more than 30 years. So he will love the railroad theme. A friend Marolyn had the B&O stamp in her vast collection that was showcased in a prior post, and I could not believe my luck.

My dad is over 90 and spent the last week in the hospital. So I am glad to make this card since I have been planning a railroad theme card for several years now (I stamped those B&O images several years ago). Glad I was able to find them.

The inside is a testament to my dad.  It says:

5 Things I learned From My Dad

1. You can not leave at 8 and be there at 8. ( I heard this every morning because my mother was habitually late)

2. Measure twice, cut once. (Carpentry was his hobby)

3. Read the instructions

4.The difference between a Philips and a flathead screwdriver.

and 5. That I was loved.

Sistahs Stamping Day

Today (June 7th, 2008) I gathered together with my Sistahs from the stamping world. Claret and Lori from Springfield Ohio. Marie, Pat and Lynette from the Dayton Area. Reketa my local girl from the Cincinnati area.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this day.  Not just for the stamping but for the love of a sistah! Each came bearing a gift (that's enough love right there). Then there was the food they brought, pasta salad, lemon cake, taco salad, and sub sandwiches. I baked a chocolate brownie cake.

We had an ATC exchange and made clay covered tools and ink pens. We made a squash book and played with a Marvy Metallic Marker technique. We had a great time.

Which Is It?

Can you tell what I colored this card with:

IMG_0535

Have you guessed yet?

come on give it a shot

ok I'll tell

It was either :

A: Copic Markers

B: Tombo Markers

C: Prismacolor Pencils

well if you guessed "C" you are right.  I was trying out a new paper from

Neenah called Solar White Super Smooth and the pencils glided over it like butter on warm toast! And the presentation looks like Copic markers.  I also tried the Tombos on this paper and there were NO lines in the coloring. Super Smooth it is,  the Copics look really great on them.  I found mine at Expedex. I hope you are able to find some for your self.  If you can't find the super smooth there is another version of Solar White that I have seen at Ellen Hutson's online store.

Peek-a-Boo birdies

I found a video and blog by Dawn Griffith and she showed me how to make this card.

I'll be making more of these for sure.

Stamping Play Day

I was in Marolyn's Stamp World yesterday. This place has to be seen to be believed. Marolyn said that one guest said after a meeting held here, "Now can we shop".  It is better than a store however because Marolyn let you play with everything for free. Lucky Lucy me I get invited to play!

Combined

I do like to make jewelry and I love to stamp. So I combined them!

The stamps are from Stamp Camp.

The background is polished stone on glossy Card stock that was mounted onto some chip board. I cut them out and them diamond glazed them. While the Diamond Glaze was wet I sprayed them with some Radiant Rain in Solar Gold and added the crystal eyes. Once everything was dry I edged them with a gold krylon pen and fashioned them into earrings.
