Palenttini Collection

From my Stampaway haul I have colored up a Palenttini Face It Stamp two ways. A lighter Skinned version and a Dark and Lovely version! The stamp is sold by Technique Junkies.

I used Primacolor and the Lyra Skin Tone set of colored pencils and some Gamsol.

for the whites of their eyes I used  a mix of colored pencil and Signo Uniball gel pen. Tip: put the gel pen down first. To add some more strands of hair I used Faber Castel Pitt pens.

to make the eyes pop I went over the stamping with .03 Acurit Professional Technical Pen.

And then following a Splitcoaststampers Tutorial for double matting layers I created two cards. I used my Misti and some Tim Holtz Runway stamps to decorated one of the layers.

The paper is from PaperTreyInk. The ink MFT Hybrid. Here is a peek at the inside just waiting for my sentiments.

I had to jump right in and make some things before I put these stamps away!

Grid Technique drawings

I have been following an artist on Ustream Dede Willingham and she has taught me to draw using the grid technique. Basically you draw a grid on a transparency and also on your surface. Then place your photo behind the transparency and use the grid to get small portions of your photo and copy those lines to the grid on the your working surface.

I used my grandson from a photo. He is just so cute and I thought his mad face was more interesting to draw.

I colored him in with Prismacolor and Lyra colored pencils. Not too bad for a beginner huh!
I am having so much fun!

Losses

A couple of Friends suffered the loss of a parent. Another friend has decided not to attend our crafting nights anymore. It just seems to be a season of loss. So I made some cards for my friends.

First up the sympathy cards. I was playing with a technique I learned while visiting home from Rena (Hi Rena)! The stamps, ink and paper are all from Paper Trey Ink.

The paper on this one is kraft from Paper Trey Ink and colored with Prismacolors.
The ink was Archival. Stamps by Hero Arts except for the sentiment it is from
Cornish Heritage Farms. Someone so wonderful… can never be forgotten is what the full stamp says. I stamped a portion on the front and the rest inside. Added a few pearls to finish it off.

These three cards were inspired by a die set I bought from Paper Trey Ink.
there are 3 dies in the set as seen below. The stamps are from their Counting Your Blessings stamp set. I had this floral ribbon that covers the seam between where the embossing folder ends. I think it is a hello kitty set from Sizzix.

Even though this seems to be a season of loss; I am blessed and grateful, thankful for what I have.

My First Tutorial

IMG_0877

Today I thought I'd actually film a tutorial. My friends ask me all the time to show them how I color with Copic markers so here goes. First I stamped the image from, Smartworks with Memento Rick Cocoa Ink onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. I love how the memento ink dries very quickly and does not smear.

I paused only long enough to take the picture and already the ink is dry enough to color over. Using E000 I colored all the flesh and I wasn't too careful I colored over the eyes because I am going to fix that later. The trick is to work quickly so you get an even texture. But no one's skin is flawless in real life but you want to avoid lines.

Next I added some shadow with E04

Now I know that looks just like what I said not to do, create lines, but the lines are softened by the next color applied E11. I used it to blend the shadows and to have the girl not look so pale.

Then I colored her dress with B21, I used some random strokes to simulate the flow of the fabric.  I let the first application of color dry and then went over the lines the artist drew with a second application of B21 to create shadow and variation.

I colored her hat with a base coat of Y26 and then added highlights of Y13 and Y17.

IMG_0871

I outlined the eyes, nose and mouth with Prismacolor Fine Line Marker 03. I think this just makes the girl pop in the finished project.

IMG_0872

I added some whites back to her eyes and some teeth to her lips (not there on the stamp I just liked the teeth) with Ranger's Ink Essentials Opaque Pen.

IMG_0875

I just went back and colored the flower on her hat with B21 and touched up some of the blending and shadows on her arms, hands by outlining her fingers and the shadows that would fall on her face and under her chin with E11.

IMG_0876

I added some shadows all around the outside of the stamped image with G00. Then added another stamp to the background by Crafty Individuals by Magenta multiple times. I colored the background with the wedge applicator and PanPastel's Diarylide Yellow Shade. I added the ribbon with the slot punch by Making Memories, by marking the placement on the back of the piece. Mounted it onto some green cardstock and waa laa its done.
