What Is your Place of Rest?

You should have a place of rest.  A place that simply by being in it brings calm. A place that brings peace. You probably have one even if you don’t recognize it. Where do you spend most of your ME time? Time that is not dictated to by anyone other than you.

For me that place is my craft room/office/studio. It just gives me joy to create. I told my husband that he should ask me to come out if he feels neglected because I loose all track of time here in my secret garden.

If you could see my studio/craft/office place you would find it messy. I tend to like this room messy. I’m more creative when it is messy. Hubby does not get that “Why are bits of paper always on the floor?” I have an answer too but I don’t share it with him. I have less time to be in my craft-office-studio place than I’d like. And I don’t want to spend the time I do have cleaning. My friend who is into personality typing says if my P personality. Whatever even when I go all out and clean it and take an oath to keep it that way it never lasts more than a week. I’m not a neat crafter. I was watching a ustream last night and the woman put everything away after she used it. I sure wish God had made me that way.

Alas He didn’t and people have been trying to make me “neat” my whole life. My mom and my 3 sisters were/are all neat nicks (name given by non neat people to you neat people). I craft with a woman who says after each project we make “We have to Keep Our Work Spaces Clean” and then we sweep away the debris.  Left on my own the whole night’s debris would be there the next morning, ha ha. I adapt to other’s rules when I play in a group.

But In my OWN place I can be me

and leave debris,

             for all to see,

                           tee hee.

So where your place?

I live in Louisville Kentucky and have just finished my first ever really intense March Madness with UoL making it to the Final 4 (Yay Cardinals); only to lose to Kentucky. My husband and his brother were on opposing sides. Neighbors against neighor; two dialysis patients came to blows. In my house texts flew back and forth, bets were placed, jerseys donned. I have never seen anything like it. Needless to say there is no joy here in Mudville, the mighty Cardinals did not win. And so my husband must pay up and this is the card I made to go with his wager.

There was not a Copic used to color this…really you say…really. I colored this digital image entirely with distress ink. I started by printing the image on watercolor paper. I had previously created a custom distress ink palette with the reinkers. Then using normal water coloring process I painstakingly painted each area with distress reinkers and water. I found to minimize bleeding you need to dry each area with your heat gun before moving on to the next area.
oh my goodness close-up
I used Tea Dye for her skin,  Barn door for her bow, dress and shoes. I used Tatter Rose for her cheeks and mouth. Her hair is Walnut Stain. The background is a digital image. After I finished coloring my image on the watercolor paper I scanned it into my computer to create the background, and used Distress Ink to distress the edges. And there she is in all her cardinal red glory…Oh My Goodness isn’t she a riot.

I am giving away the digital image shown above. In order to win this image you simply have to leave a comment. Easy Peasy right! Leave a comment here by Sunday, April 15th at 11:59pm (Louisville, KY time).

Please take the opportunity to visit all the designers and see what they have come up with and maybe win some other prizes!
Grand Prize - Our grand prize winner will receive 5 digital Images from Robert Jackson and a $15.00  Oozak Gift Certificate.
