You should have a place of rest. A place that simply by being in it brings calm. A place that brings peace. You probably have one even if you don’t recognize it. Where do you spend most of your ME time? Time that is not dictated to by anyone other than you.
For me that place is my craft room/office/studio. It just gives me joy to create. I told my husband that he should ask me to come out if he feels neglected because I loose all track of time here in my secret garden.
If you could see my studio/craft/office place you would find it messy. I tend to like this room messy. I’m more creative when it is messy. Hubby does not get that “Why are bits of paper always on the floor?” I have an answer too but I don’t share it with him. I have less time to be in my craft-office-studio place than I’d like. And I don’t want to spend the time I do have cleaning. My friend who is into personality typing says if my P personality. Whatever even when I go all out and clean it and take an oath to keep it that way it never lasts more than a week. I’m not a neat crafter. I was watching a ustream last night and the woman put everything away after she used it. I sure wish God had made me that way.
Alas He didn’t and people have been trying to make me “neat” my whole life. My mom and my 3 sisters were/are all neat nicks (name given by non neat people to you neat people). I craft with a woman who says after each project we make “We have to Keep Our Work Spaces Clean” and then we sweep away the debris. Left on my own the whole night’s debris would be there the next morning, ha ha. I adapt to other’s rules when I play in a group.
But In my OWN place I can be me
and leave debris,
for all to see,
tee hee.
So where your place?

Pam, your room sounds like mine!!! I'm referred to as a "neat freak" by my family and friends -- except when it comes to my craft room!!! It's embarrassing-horrible!!! I too used to try to clean it and it only lasts until I start the next project so I don''t give much effort to cleaning it anymore... lol!!! Although the mess and disorganization does get to me sometimes. So my favoriate space is a bedroom I've turned into my dressing room/personal den. I can escape there, watch TV, read or just think -- it's my room for the mental break I need!!! As much as I love my crafting and blogging, I still need that strictly "me" time and this room is my escape from EVERYTHING!!!
Pam, I am the same way, my dear husband has often shut my door, because he can't take the mess. I cannot create when it is clean. I love the unexpected things that are created because I find them laying next to each other. On the other hand, I probably end up rebuying the same thing because I can't find something. And, I am happy for football season, not because I like it, but, because he gets lost looking at it and forgets how long I am in my room. Happy creating!
Audrey and Brenda I love that I am not alone!
Here's one more person that does NOT have a neat room. I am pretty organized in that I know where to find stuff, but when I start working, WATCH OUT! Today was one of the days where I had to just stop and clean it. It took me all day and I still have to vacuum. Hubby tried to come in to talk to me yesterday and couldn't figure out where to put his feet and I wasn't sitting down because my chair was covered. We had to yell at each other across the room because he didn't know the secret path for getting across the room. LOL!
The secret path. I will use that next time when my husband complains about the scraps stored on the floor! I plan to say its like bread crumbs on the secret path!
I am both Pam. I just cleaned up my craftroom Saturday. Now I barely have done a complete project since. I tend to run a tornado in the room then make it zen again. To each his own right?
