Sadly

IMG_1037

Sadly there will come a time when you will need a Sympathy Card. A friend lost her son recently, so I made her this card. I double cuttlebuged it. I embossed it with one folder and sanded it and then embossed it again with another folder and sanded again. I used the Perfect Printing Pouch before stamping on the ribbon, this keeps it from feathering. The verse is from Stacy's Stamp

I am praying for the comfort of my friend and her family.

Don't Fit In!

IMG_1034

I'm an odd ball so this stamp by Rosie's Road Show just spoke to me. "Don't try too hard to fit in when You were born to Stand Out"

I go It at the super bowl sale this weekend too. The fish is a Hero arts tiny peg type stamp. I colored it with Copic's YR68 and B21. I used my Fiskars Wave scissors to create the border.  I doodled in some bubbles.

It's A Girl Thing Too

IMG_1022

I made this art today as I watch the pre-game show for the Super Bowl. IT's not just a man thing. Some of us women like football too.

Besides that my local Stamp Store: Stamp Your Art Out held a Super Bowl sale all weekend long and I got this cool new stamp cube by B Line Designs called Bella Twosie (among other things!).This cube came in two sizes which is cool because I can use the smaller one to decorate the envelope(hey stamp companies this is a good selling point). And if you are a Stamper you know that new stamps call out for you to ink them up. I am also in love with this new technique of creating your own background paper that looks surprisingly like designer scrapbook paper.

Wow it was so fun to create it. Here's how. I started with the ribbon as my inspiration for the colors I used. I have had this ribbon forever and often when I go to use it the colors are just not right for the finished piece, but I love it so today I am making sure it will work. I choose Color Box Fluid Chalk in Yellow Ochre, Pink Pastel, and Wisteria, looks like they match pretty closely to the ribbon. Then I choose a stamp set from Fancy Pants called "In The Garden". I distressed the edges of the card and layers with the Tonic Distress tool and I added a bit of Copic Marker to the lips.

The Oath as Witnessed By My Dad

I watched the Inauguration with my father who is 92 years old. He said "I never thought I'd live to see this day. I remember when I could go in a store to buy a hat but I could not try it on. I remember when there were whites only drinking fountains and now...". We both fell silent as the oath was administered. I too never thought I'd live to see this day but I did and what a day it is. I shall never forget it. It is a dream come true. QP

Long Time

Its been a couple of months since I posted anything but its not because I wasn't creating. I just didn't feel like writing. I was just going to post pictures but wanted to wait till the writing muse returned. Here are the christmas cards I sent for Christmas 2008. I used my Pazzles Inspiration to cut out the angel from Stardream paper and to cut the window in the other card

I made only a few of this last card because it was difficult to make
but the end result was worth the effort.

I should have used the Inspiration to cut this semicircle top on this card but instead I used the Wizard and the Cuttlebug. What made it difficult was that you had to use the embossing rubber to cover a portion of the die so it didn't cut the whole die.
Happy Creating in 2009,

False Evidence Appearing Real

Today I went for a second look mammogram. I had the first one two weeks ago. And I spent the time in between battling the Fear (False Evidence Appearing Real). What a waste of time that was as the report today was positive or negative however you view it. They saw nothing! And I am overjoyed. The prayers of my friends and the support of one special person who went with me is greatly appreciated. I was going to go by myself and then thought why, I don't have to be superwoman this one time. We celebrated after and it was just as good to have someone to celebrate with as it would have been to have someone to lean on.
